About this site and the author...
This site is mostly for personal use and is intended to be the main location for my presence on the internet, as I have another site (an old gaming fan site started in 2001) that I will eventually be taking down at the end of 2005.
Features at technoidium.net include general hobbyist interests in arts and music, newsfeeds, chats, forums, galleries, etc. There are a few more features available as a registered user.
This is practically my first big website/domain, even though I have been dialing up bulletin boards since the mid 1980's (yes, the 1980's) during the pre-Internet age. I did have my own BBS, but it was never ever permanent, as I did not have my own dedicated phone line for it. At that time, I was using a 300 baud modem on a Commodore 64 (forever claimed by millions as the most popular home computer in history). I still have 3 working C64 units.
In the early 1990's, I had a brief stint as a subscriber to the Commodore Information Network, a vast net covering the United States and Canada. This time I had a 1200 baud modem (woohoo). Sadly, C.I.N. formally closed in 1994, when its host, Quantum Computer Services (Q-Link for the C64) had to restructure its business. Quantum restarted in 1994, but changed their name. They are now known famously (or infamously?) as America OnLine (or AOL). Anyway, for that brief stint I had a chance to talk to many famous Commodore celebrities and SysOps of the time. For some nostalgia and a short history of Q-Link, head over to http://www.qlinklives.org/qlink-old/Memories/Remember_Q-Link/remember_q-link.html
Fast forward 10 years to 2001 and I get a chance to make my first website. You can find it at webnoid.homestead.com . This is the game fan site I briefly mentioned above. Sign the guestbook there if you like. I do intend to make a copy of that site before I take it down.
Yours truly, the tech.noid
